Forest School

Forest learning is woven into life at Terra Moyo and reflects our belief that some of the most meaningful learning happens beyond four walls. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Karura Forest, Kindergarten and Primary children spend time in the forest each week, using it as an extension of the classroom and a place for exploration, discovery and connection.

Forest days invite children to experience learning in a hands-on and meaningful way. Depending on the age group and current learning themes, activities include:

- Practical outdoor and survival skills
- Nature observation
- STEM investigations and experiments
- Biology and zoology explorations
- Storytelling and reading
- Music and creative activities
- Mindfulness and reflection
- Team-building challenges
- Environmental stewardship and conservation

Whether observing wildlife, building shelters, investigating ecosystems or simply taking time to notice the world around them, children are encouraged to ask questions, solve problems, work together and develop confidence through real-world experiences. Time in the forest nurtures resilience, independence, creativity and a sense of adventure, while helping children build a deeper understanding of themselves and the natural world.

We believe that regular connection with nature helps children develop not only knowledge and curiosity, but also respect, responsibility and care for the environment. Forest learning is not a separate programme at Terra Moyo; it is an important part of how children learn, grow and develop a lifelong relationship with the world around them.
